So... I bought a bike today... Teagan and I live a bit further away from the shop than the last house we rented, and I really miss commuting on a bike.  The last 3 years, I've tried to commute the summers as much as possible on a few different fixed gear bikes.  Even though I do have a lot of fun riding a fixed gear bike, there are definitely a few draw back for commuting on one where we currently live, like the fact that Edmonton is the most UNFRIENDLY city to commute on a bike by having horrible roads and even worse drivers, as well as being drenched in sweat when arriving to work.   Visiting Amsterdam this year obviously completely changed every view I had about bicycles and commuting daily on bikes.  So it was time for a change.

Revolution Cycle is right next door to our studio, and in my opinion, by far the best bike shop in town.  They always have a huge selection and amazing staff.  Hiding in the basement, I found the only remaining Globe Live 2, and since it was last years model it was a great price.  After a few test rides to compare it to the Haul model, I was confident it was exactly what I was looking for in a commuter bike this year.  This obviously isn't a pic of my actual bike.   I'll take a few pictures of it in the daylight tomorrow.  I'm super excited for a summer of riding comfortably on a bike, not wearing a backpack, coasting and using multiple gears.

Yup, I missed last night's blog post... that's what happens when you stay up drinking till 5am when you have to be in a cab heading to the airport by 8am...

First stop in Vancouver was Deluxe Moderne Burger for lunch

 

 

 

Then we walked around our old hood and Kits Beach for a bit

 

 

The Burrito Bros for dinner 

 

Then to Vera's for a Pint with Shaun

 

Then night one of drinking till 5am with Darryl

 

 This was how Darryl signed the check at the end of the night.  Jaws.  Amazing.

Day 2 started a bit late since we were out till dawn, but started right by going to the Wooden Shoe 

 

Then we walked around Main Street for a bit, and back to Davie St for sushi

 

 ...and at this point I started drinking the first of many beers over the course of the night...

 

Then off to The Vogue to see The Cave Singers who were absolutely amazing...

 

 Fleet Foxes were unreal live

 

 Then we met up with Darryl again for one beer, which became many beers... which became bouncing from bar to bar until 3:30am.... which then took us to Denny's at 4:00am....

 

Awesome trip that was way far to short... Vancouver, we'll be back... hopefully sooner than later...

Teagan and I have arrived and are staying at a hotel right downtown in Vancouver for the next few nights. Unfortunately the wi-fi is only free in the lobby, and I'm far to lazy to go down to make an actual blog post with pictures tonight. Im sure there's a way to upload pics from an iPhone to blogger, but again, to tired to attempt to figure it out right now.

Teagan and I leave for Vancouver tomorrow morning for a couple of days.  Saturday night we'll get to see The Cave Singers and Fleet Foxes at the Vogue.  Pretty damn excited.  I think I may have posted this already but whatever, it's good enough to be posted twice.

As promised, a tattoo photo.  I know it's only one, but it's one more than none. 

Here's a section of Adam's arm after finishing the colour the other day.  You can slightly see there's a lighthouse on his elbow.  I'd love to include photos of the lighthouse, but we'll have to wait until it's healed.  Adam's arm was pretty swollen in my photos, making the lines look anything but straight, so I left those photos out for now.

I couldn't decide which to post so I'll just put 'em both up.  Either way, I've enjoyed a much needed day off and that will continue tonight on the blog.

I know I said I'd post tattoo photos today... but I lied.... I also know that I'm sounding like a broken record at this point, but I'm tired... After returning from Penticton, I worked 12 days in a row, took one day off to do my taxes, and then worked another 5 days in a row.  That's 17 of the last 18 days working at the studio.  I finally have a few days off starting tomorrow to catch up on rest and a few projects, then Teagan and I head out to Vancouver for a couple of days.  Pretty excited.

I finished the last little bit background on my friend Dave's sleeve today and even had time for  about an hour or so of touch ups.  Dave's awesome.  He brought me homemade margarita and sangria jelly today.  Thanks Dave!
